The Financial Controller directs both the management and financial accounting functions, ensuring key controls are effective, internal and external reporting needs are met, provides timely and relevant management information to decision-makers and promotes financial and commercial awareness to client-facing staff. The Role Work with the senior management team to develop and deliver the finance team strategy and in turn contribute to the strategy and success of the wider firm. Preparation of monthly and quarterly management information including firm, office and department P&Ls, Balance Sheets, Fee and Working Capital reports Financial planning and analysis work against the firm's KPIs and other quantitative and qualitative metrics Management of the annual budget process in line with the firm's business plan Provision of financial information to clients, Partners and staff on fees, debtors, and time recording when required Assess current finance practices around the firm in managing matters, billing and debt exposure and contribute to projects and other initiatives to apply continual improvements to those processes. Ensure financial risks across the firm and all related controls are appropriately documented, fully understood by all those concerned and regularly reviewed. The Person Bachelor's degree in business administration or a finance discipline from a leading University. Qualified Accountant and/or MBA with significant post-qualification experience in a global professional services firm. A minimum of 10 years experience managing finance teams, preparing and analysing reports with the ability to work well under pressure meeting tight deadlines. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategy. Highly analytical, technically proficient and a confident financial management leader Experience in working in a matrix reporting structure complex. Strong analytical skills and will involve the review and analysis of information including customer financial statements, corporate finance, financial models, due diligence and legal documentation. Strong communication skills as there will be various interfaces both within the organisation (Credit, Syndications, Operations etc) as well as externally including some client facing dealing (such as KYC etc). Knowledge of Corporate Finance theory, practice, documentation and execution The role has interfaces also with Customers (financial and industrial equity), other banks and financial institutions, DFIs & ECAs lawyers, accountants, specialist engineers, insurance advisors, public sector up to national government level Preparing credit applications and managing data input for GBR, EIC and other systems. Preparing externally facing marketing materials, including PPT presentations for corporate finance, project finance and other ancillary business initiatives, in line with the guidelines and seeking compliance approval. Input transactions into the Project Finance/Corporate Finance Grading Methodology (PD/LDG model). As appropriate, financial modelling and analysis for transactions in support of transaction lead. Managing other administrative and support functions related to the team (e.g. preparation/circulation of signing logs, KYC). Understanding the Bank's internal procedures and processes and applying them correctly. Complying with all regulatory and internal policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines. The Successful Applicant Significant knowledge and experience of corporate finance theory (and some Project Finance), practice, risk analysis and credit required Knowledge of corporate finance transaction execution and documentation Experience of working in a large financial institution or other relevant role in industry, advisory or finance Strong numerical and financial skills essential. Financial modelling experience desirable. Dealing with multiple tasks in a small team and responding to tight deadlines. Methodical and meticulous with strong attention to detail.
